Southside Cedar Fence Rails
Cedar Railings
Southside Cedar has many railings from which to choose. Listed below are links to our different railing systems. If you do not find the railing of your choice please email me with a picture or drawing of your idea. Let us help you create the railing system of your dreams.
Our railing systems have interchangeable parts. This means that you can interchange parts between our different railing styles. The above railing system includes a peeled newel, Champlain system balusters, and a custom twig system. Please feel free to mix and match.
Standard railings on some styles can be preassembled at the plant for an additional charge. Northern White Cedar grows in Northern New York and Canada. The heartwood of white cedar is light brown, and the sapwood is white. It shrinks little in drying. It is easily worked, holds paint well, and the heartwood is highly resistant to decay. It withstands the abuse of seasonal elements without breaking down or rotting like other woods. White cedar turns silvery-grey with age, but can be treated with a good quality clear finish to help retain its color. All log rail systems are subject to the natural process of checking. This occurs naturally as wood releases moisture, and normally occurs across or through the annual growth rings. Checking does not affect the structural performance or integrity of the wood and is not grounds for a return. Checking is not a manufacturing defect. All rustic style rail products are subject to imperfections in the wood; such as checking and knots are to be expected. We believe these characteristics add to the individuality and uniqueness of our rustic style products.
